We're on YouTube

Visit RAC Qld's YouTube Channel to find footage from our campaigns, refugee and asylum seeker stories and other videos of interest.

Advancing refugee rights in Brisbane and beyond, we'll be posting vidoes that advocate for refugee rights, support the reform of Australia’s immigration policies, and tell the stories that matter locally and overseas.

Two excellent examples

Vigil for dying Iranian hunger striker seeking asylum, Saeed Hassanloo held outside Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia, on Good Friday, 3 April 2015. With church members, refugee activists, concerned citizens. Solidarity with Saeed. Shame on the Australian Government and its inhumane refugee policy.

Update: As of Monday 6 April, Saeed agreed to accept medical intervention and go off his hunger strike.......he sent a personal message to thank supporters.

Reza Berati, a 23 year old Kurdish asylum seeker from Iran, was brutally murdered while detained in an Australian Immigration Detention Centre on Manus Island, PNG. He was beaten by 10 security personnel employed to guard the Australian facility while he lay defenceless on the ground.

On the 17th February 2015 - the one year anniversary of Reza Berati's death, the men on Manus Island penned a letter to Reza, asking that it be circulated widely. Rob Nicholas from the Refugee Action Collective Qld reads this letter at the Declare peace of Refugees: Palm Sunday Rally, 29 March 2015, Brisbane CBD.
