Solidarity vigil and rallies to continue in support of Lady Cilento Children's Hospital staff

The determination to continue the vigil outside Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in support of hospital staff, until baby Asha is allowed to stay in Australia, has solidified.

The vigil has not ceased, night or day, since it started on Friday night.

The general opinion is that the vigil will not cease until Asha and all the rest are allowed to stay in Australia. All refugee supporters are urged to spend some time at the vigil. At 6am Monday 15th February a morning television program is expected to be present. It would be good to have refugee supporters present also.

Volunteer roster:

Unions Queensland has now offered to host an online roster to help keep the vigil going. If you have any time to spare to staff the vigil, please put your name down and nominate your time on the roster. Go to http://www.queenslandunions.org.au/cilento or click here.

Rallies in support of Lady Cilento staff:

There will be a rally with speakers outside the hospital, 501 Stanley St, South Brisbane, at 5.30 pm, Monday 15th February. Considerable effort has been made to invite trade union participation, and we hope this will be the case. We regard a good turnout to this event to be important.

There will be rallies at 5:30 pm each week day, same place.

There may well be other rallies and events during the week. We will attempt to keep up with them and inform you on this mailout list as we become aware of them.
