Pickets at the KP Prison

Join Refugee Action Collective Queensland members and many other supporters of the #KP120 in Brisbane at the Kangaroo Point Prison to raise awareness, and show solidarity to the men locked up inside. Each Monday and Thursday.

Monday Rush Hour Picket.

4 pm every Monday, until 28 September. Kangaroo Point Prison, 721 Main Street, Kangaroo Point. Join us as we hold up signs to peak hour traffic outside the prison, in solidarity with our friends as they protest from their balconies. #FreeTheKP120

Go ahead and get started on your own. You don't need to wait for someone to tell you what to do. We have lots of signs and banners in the Spizzico carpark, so please go in (while being respectful to the owner and any customers), grab a sign, and stand wherever you'd like along main street! If there are enough people, you could cross main street and do it on the other side.

Remember: our friends the #KP120 protest on their balconies every day at 4:30pm, so don't forget to wave to them, cross your arms above your head, and reflect for a moment on what what we're fighting for together.

Thursday Cross Walk Picket.

5 pm every Thursday, until 24 September. Kangaroo Point Prison, 721 Main Street, Kangaroo Point.

Grab a sign, get a few people together, and walk out onto the pedestrian crossing across Main Street when the man goes green. Stand in front of cars with your signs to draw attention to the prison beside them. When the crosswalk starts flashing red, walk off the road. Repeat! #FreeTheKP120

We acknowledge that we protest on the stolen lands of the Yuggera and Turrbal peoples, whose sovereignty over this land was never ceded, and who have led the fight against colonialism for over 250 years.
