Vigil for Tharnicaa

Updated: Jun 11, 2021

Bring Tharni and her family home to Biloela now!

When: TODAY Friday, 11 June 2021 at 5:30 pm local time Where: King George Square, 100 Adelaide St, Brisbane City, QLD, Australia 4000 RSVP: Visit the RACQld Brisbane event page to stay up to date.

Please join us for this vigil for Tharni, and her family.

Background Three-year-old Tharnicaa from Biloela has been medically evacuated to Perth with her Mum Priya, after being hospitalised on Christmas Island with a suspected blood infection. Tharnicaa has never before been separated from her dad and sister, and her family should all be with her now.

Tharnicaa is turning four this Saturday. She has spent the vast majority of her life in detention, and most of it on isolated Christmas Island. She should never have spent a single day in detention.

The ongoing detention of Tharnicaa and her family is callously cruel and unnecessary. With a stroke of her pen, Minister Karen Andrews can release this family and let them go back to their home and community in Biloela.

Take Action

There's more you can do!

Various media outlets have recently reported that Immigration Minister Alex Hawke is considering allowing Tharni to apply for a visa.

You can let the Minister know that Priya and her family just want to be safe and free. To send him an email visit the 'Bring Priya and her beautiful family back home to Biloela, Queensland' petition web page and click the link to email.
